Surab: Nighar is a union council of Surab in Kalat District. The Natural gas plant located in Nighar provides gas to the Surab city but it’s deprived from gas supply itself.
Mr. Shabir Ahmed, a resident of Nighar village told Balochistan Voices that “it is injustice with the people of Nighar village that the Gas plant is situated in our area, but we are kept deprived of this basic necessity at Nighar”.
The unavailability of natural gas to the domestic consumers has compelled a large number of residents of Nighar to cut down trees and use them as fuel. The cutting of trees has created several difficulties for the residents who are prone to different infections and diseases caused by the smoke of burning woods.
The provincial government lacks plans to extend the natural gas pipeline to other nearest villages of Surab.
Mr. Sultan, another resident of the same village, said that “natural gas is one of the basic needs of people which is abundant in some places of Balochistan. The village has been hosting the gas plant for last five years, but the domestic consumers of Nighar village have been without gas.
A large number of residents of Nighar village are looking forward to the government of Balochistan to look into his issue and make some proper arrangements for the uninterrupted supply of gas to the village.
