Gwadar: 18th anniversary of Pakistan Fisher Folk Forum was celebrated in Gwadar, on Friday.
Fisher Folk Forum is a body established in May 1998 to protect the rights of fisherman community.
A program was held in the district office of the forum to commemorate the anniversary of the Fisher Folk Forum.
Addressing the program, District President of Fisher Folk Forum Akbar Ali Raees shed light on the role of the forum.
“Fisher Folk Forum is doing its best to protect the rights of fisherman community for last 18 years,” said Mr. Raees.
He further added, “Illegal trawling has destroyed the livelihood of the fisherman of Gwadar.”
Participants of the program also expressed concerns on the proposed marine drive project. “Project will affect the livelihood of fisherman of Gwadar and therefore the concerns of fisher man should be addressed,” demanded the participants of the program.
