Today is 35th death anniversary of literary giant Azat Jamaldini
Azat Jamaldini, elder brother of Abdullah Jan Jamaldini, was one of the highly regarded poets of Balochi Language. His first book Masthen Tawaar appeared in 1953. Later on, this Book was banned because of being themed on revolutionary concerns and thoughts. Azat was jailed in the Martial Law of 1958 owing to this book.

Azat Jamaldini’s poetry is replete with revolutionary and anti-imperialistic themes and it reflects his progressive nature and socialist ideas. His poems exhibit his dislike for the chauvinistic attitude of the rich and upper class towards the poors, farmers, oppressed and lower class. He wished all the working and laboring class should united and chant slogans for their rights on one platform internationally.
On one hand Azat Jamaldini is considered a great revolutionary figure but on other hand he is also credited as the first and foremost poet of peace, prosperity and love for whole humanity in Balochi Language. He composed a comprehensive poem against 2nd world war in 1952, which was totally focused towards peace and freedom from war.
Though Azat Jamaldini was an eminent nationalist, but his enthusiastic love for entire Mankind forced him to break the limits and boundaries of nationalism and to view all humanity as one nation. This is why he has always talked for peace of whole Humanity in his poetries.
Amongst these all Azat Jamaldini’s best and widely regarded work for Balochi Language is the periodical Balochi Magazine, which appeared in June 1956. Azat paid a great deal of attention to promote the Balochi Language according to the scientific regulations. Through monthly Balochi Magazine, Balochi Language was introduced in written shape for the first time in many countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Dubai etc. Azat Jamaldini produced a large number of intellectuals, writers, Poets, Short story writers through his Balochi Magazine.
Till the last days of his life, when he was chained with the shackles of Cancer, he worked hard for the promotion and advancement of Balochi Language day and night.
Azat Jamaldini might have died physically but He is alive in the hearts of downtrodden and oppressed class.
