Quetta: WASA to Start Crackdown against Illegal Connections

Quetta: Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has started a crackdown against illegal water connections in Quetta, said Liaqat Bugti, Chief Engineer WASA.
Quetta city needs 450 million Gallons of water but just 200 million gallons are being provided now, said Chief engineer WASA Liaqat Ali Bugti while addressing Media.
“WASA and PHE have formed a committee of different secretaries along with secretary PHE and MD WASA, along with commissioner Quetta who will investigate against illegal tube wells,” said Mr. Bugti.
He added that old projects of British era which were designed to provide water to fifty thousand population of Quetta and are still being used.
In past the water table of Quetta was at 200 feet now it has gone down to 600 feet.
He said that Rs. 8 billion have been allocated for Mangi dam and work on it will start soon.
