Rehan Rind Passed Away while Battling Cancer

Quetta: Rehan Rind, a 21 year old student-cum-teacher from Khuzdar, passed away on Tuesday morning while battling with cancer.
Rehan Rind had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) a type of blood cancer which causes blood-division disorder and was under treatment in Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH).
Rehan Rind was diagnosed with cancer in month of July and a social media campaign was started to collect donations for his treatment. He was under treatment in AKUH under patient number MR# 285-85-47.

Guardians of Rehan were also not happy with the treatment offered in AKUH. Sources close to the family of Rehan told Balochistan Voices that AKUH does not have a good track record of treating blood cancer patients. Therefore family of Rehan was contemplating shifting him abroad for treatment.
Rehan Rind passed away after the chemotherapy session which he could not survive due to his weak health.

Quetta Online Volunteers, Civil Society Balochistan, Students from different institutes and individuals were doing their best to collect money for treatment of donor which was estimated to be at a cost of over Rs. 5 million.
A summary by government of Balochistan to pay Rs. 2.5 million for treatment of Rehan Rind was stuck in Civil Secretariat of Balochistan for almost 15 days.

“There was enough money in the account of Rehan for day to day treatment but not for bone marrow transplantation,” claimed the source who wishes to remain anonymous.

Death of Rehan Rind was widely mourned on social media and the activists campaigning for Rehan’s treatment have vowed to establish a cancer hospital in Balochistan.
