More Work Required on Child Rights in Balochistan

Universal Children Day offers each of us an inspirational entry-point to advocate, promote and celebrate children rights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for Children.
United Nations Universal Children’s Day was established in 1954 and is celebrated on November 20th each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children welfare. Pakistan has also signed United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child Bill, but it needs to work for the welfare of children on early basis. We celebrate this day every year to express love, happiness and prosperity with our children.
According to National Nutritional Survey 2011, 62% children impact badly due to lack of blood, 41% due to the lake of Vitamin-D and 56% impacted due to the lake of Vitamin-A in Pakistan.
The monsoon flood 2011 many people lost their lives and it left local population in a state of shock. Thousands of people became internally displaced. While the torrential rains are long over, the impact of the flood is writ on the faces of women and specially children.
As stated by Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey, Pakistan’s Demographic health Survey 2013, 74 child in 1000 got dead before their 1st date of birth, 55 of them got dead during birth time because of the lack of nutrition.
Children face a lot of hurdles in school and other educational institutions due to the lack of basic facilities. There is only one Children hospital in Quetta, Balochistan which is not enough to give basic health facilities to all children of province.
A large number of children in far and flung areas of Balochistan being deprived of basic health facilities. The children also don’t have needed provision in prisons of Balochistan. The Interior ministry of Balochistan need to take action and provide special educational potential to children in Prisons.
A large number of Children observed working hard in workshops on daily basis and low salary in several parts of province. These children also have keen interest in studies but compelled to work hard a long day.
Government of Balochistan has passed Child rights and welfare bill on 21st March 2016 but still needs implementation. It is our duty to keep continues our struggle for children welfare and bright future of our generation.
As former CM Balochistan has been imposed Educational and Health Emergency in Balochistan which bounds the government to provide free education, but it’s very painful to see the children stripping needy things from garbage and dustbins near roadside at Quetta.
It’s the need of the time to initiate such projects to tackle problems of children in Balochistan. Thousands of affected children need to be facilitated in Health, education, and while national and international NGOs playing a significance role in addressing such burning issues of, there is a dire need for provincial government CM Balochistan Nawab Sana Ullah Khan Zehri and other officials to do the needful.
