Employees Lament Increase in Rent of Balochistan Flats in Islamabad

Quetta: Government employees belonging from Balochistan and posted in Islamabad have lamented the decision of increase in the rents of Balochistan Flats in G8-4.
Earlier, on 23rd December the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) of Government of Balochistan issued a notification for increase in the rent of Balochistan flats with effect from 1st January 2017.
Balochistan flats are situated in G8-4 Islamabad and owned by Government of Balochistan. These fats are provided to employees from Balochistan posted in Islamabad on rent during the length of their posting in federal capital.
Notification
According to the notification, for the eligible allottees the Rent of Bachelor flats has increased from 4,000 to 7,000 and for Family flats rent increased from 7,000 to 18,000. For non-eligible allottees the rents have been increased even more.
Employees of Balochistan residing in Balochistan flats have told Balochistan Voices on condition of anonymity that increasing in rents tantamount to making life difficult for them in Islamabad.

Sources within government of Balochistan told Balochistan Voices that rent has been increased based on the increase in the market rent in the area where Balochistan flats are located.
“Rent of bachelor flats in Chmuri lodges of Federal Ministry of Housing is just Rs. 3,500 then why Balochistan government felt the need to increase the rent of Balochistan flats to Rs. 7,000” resident in Balochistan flats questioned.
