Quetta: President of ‘Awaz-e-Mazooran Balochistan’, Mr. Izzat Ullah Shah held a press conference along with other Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at Quetta Press Club to call on government to ensure employment for PWDs. He called for starting a non-violent-sit-in protest from 30th of January till their demands are met.
“PWDs are facing a lot of problems in different fields of life. It is very sad to say that there is no implementation of rules to facilitate PWDs in Balochistan,” said Mr. Izzat Ullah Shah.
“There is no complete employment on the basis of 2% Quota for PWDs in Quetta and throughout Balochistan. We are facing lot of problems in earning money. Unemployment is one of the biggest hurdles for us across the world,” Mr. Izzat lamented.
Other PWDs Noor Ahmed Khawja, Imran Khan, and Ahmed Khan said the government of Balochistan had to ensure implementation of employment on the basis of 2%. They further said the Government had announced more than 25,000 vacant posts in different departments of Balochistan out of which 500 were due to be given to PWDs and Chief Minister Balochistan ensured fair appointment of the disabled persons for the vacancies as well.
“Government should announce separate vacancies for PWDs as the Government of Punjab is doing. It is duty of the government to ensure such actions to resolve our problems,” protesters requested to the government.
However, the PWDs called of their protest after Deputy Commissioner assured them of fulfillment of their demands on 14th November 2016, but still their demands have not been met.
