A seminar by the title of Balochistan: Perception & Reality was held in Aiwan-e-Iqbal, on Thursday.
Seminar was arranged by Voice of Balochistan and Center for Strategic and Contemporary Research (CSCR).
Delegations from Balochistan and Students of different Universities of Balochistan including BUITEMS, University of Balochistan and University of Lasbela were among the Participants.
Addressing the seminar, VC Baluchistan University Prof Javed Iqbal highlighted that how the Electronic media is playing its role in Balochistan. He openly criticized the role of media in ignoring Balochistan. He said media is showing only the top highlight and only positive things media totally ignored all the negative things which is necessary to be highlighted.
Moulana Abdul Wasay, leader of opposition in Balochistan Assembly, raised the problems and deprivation since decades in terms of Gas, Gold, lapse of funds. He passionately raised different issues such as how Gas was game changer but since 1984 except Quetta and two other major cities of the province none of other city is facilitated of gas the major part of the province is deprived of its own resources that is absolutely injustice. He criticized the provincial government that how they have failed to serve their own people they have lapsed billions of rupees.
Rahila Durrani, Speaker of Balochistan Assembly, addressed the students about the Empowerment of Women in Balochistan and claimed that Balochistan is no more backwards. She also mentioned that she is the first ever Women speaker of the provincial assembly in Pakistan that is an example and milestone for women more. She added that the women of Balochistan are progressive but let me put the question that in a recent survey by World Bank in which it was mentioned that more than 71% girls are out of school it is questionable? 70% people are deprived of pure water for drinking more than 70% people are not approach of good health institution there are 70% people who are unemployed so where is progress in any field?
The Last Representative from Baluchistan was Mir Jam Kamal, State Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources presented his viewpoint with details. He said instead of criticism on each other, we have wasted much time in Nationalism but let me tell you that none of us knows about Nationalism. If anybody want to see Nationalism they should visit and can see the Nationalism of UAE, Malaysia and Singapore and how they have progressed in a short span of time. How they developed their Infrastructure their energy sector. We are still progressing in the field of infrastructure, Education and Health and we are all responsible for the backwardness of our homeland and the rest of Balochistan we are answerable to our voters as they have a right to ask their representative about their role and responsibility. Instead of blaming federal and other provinces we should ask your own representatives what actually they did for Balochistan and for the people of Balochistan. He hoped that the next generation which he pointed out the students of Balochistan will be the symbol of change for the development of Balochistan.
The Question answer session was very short and limited. Many students did not get the opportunity to ask questions but the organizers and the representative assured the student that we will try our best to organize more seminars to give more opportunities for asking questions.
