Quetta: Nine passengers lost their lives and 25 were wounded when a Quetta bound passenger bus travelling from Karachi overturned near Lakpass Tunnel, on Friday.
This was the third deadly accident on highways of Balochistan in a time span of a week.
Wounded passengers were shifted to Trauma Center of Civil Hospital Quetta for medical aid.
Earlier this week four passengers were killed when a passenger van travelling from Nushki to Quetta collided with a trawler, on Wednesday.
On Sunday, a highway accident near Pak-Iran border resulted in death of seven passengers.
According to levies sources, the passenger bus overturned near Lakpass tunnel when it was trying to overtake a truck.
Haji Abdul Qadir Raisani, provincial Chairman of All-Balochistan Transport Action Committee denied the claim that this accident took place due to over speeding. “Diesel is smuggled from Mastung to Hazar Gunji on daily basis which spills on the roads and make it slippery which causes the accidents,” claimed Raisani.
