Quetta: Balochistan National Party (BNP) protested in form of a demonstration outside Quetta Press Club against unblocking of CNICs issued to Afghan Refugees, on Wednesday.
Protest Demonstration was led by Agha Hassan Baloch, the Central Secretary Information of Balochistan National Party (BNP).
The protestors were holding party flags, placards and banners which carried slogans against issuing of Pakistani Identity documents to Afghan Refugees.
Speakers on the occasion said that unblocking the blocked identity cards of Afghan refugees was an injustice with Baloch people. They demanded to immediately suspend the national identity cards and documents of Afghan refugees and send them back to their country.
They added that lawlessness in the province is due to the presence of Afghan Refugees while some people working in the national institutions have issued National identity cards for them due to their vested interests.
On the one hand, they said, census in the province is already being made controversial. And, on the other hand, they further added, through restoring national identity cards of Afghan refugees is understood a path is being paved for them.
Speakers also demanded to restrict the refugees to the camp otherwise they would go to courts, adding, “Those Baloch IDPs, who migrated to other areas due to security situation, should be included in census.”
They accused government machineries for being used for the purpose of enrolling Afghan refugees to the census and trying to decrease the population of Baloch in Sariab which is not acceptable at any cost.
They said Baloch officers deployed in high positions have been ousted from their posts due to ethnic discrimination.
Others who were present at the occasion included members of central committee Gulam Nabi Marri, Malik Naseer Ahmed Shahwani, Musa Baloch, Ahmed Nawaz Baloch, Javed Baloch and others.
