It was expected that at least one important ministry would be allotted to members from Balochistan. Lt. Gen (R) Abdul Qadir Baloch was tipped as Interior Minister. However, that didn’t prove to be right and all important ministries were allotted to members of PML-N from Punjab who are also part of close circle of Nawaz Sharif.
Balochistan once again got the Ministry of Postal Services which is considered to be one of the least important ministries. Since 2008, this ministry has always been allotted to members from Balochistan. Current Deputy Chairman of Senate, Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri held this portfolio from 2014 till senate elections in March 2015.
The share of ministers from Balochistan and South Punjab has been increased in cabinet this time. Therefore, it’s being dubbed as election cabinet by the analysts.
