Surab: Youth in Surab is suffering due to lack of basic sports facilities in Surab town of District Kalat.
Surab have many talented players but they are compelled to quit sports due to lack of availability of basic facilities for them. There is no proper play ground dedicated for specific sports activities playing.
Mr. Bakhtiar Ahmed, a cricketer, told Balochistan Voices that “sport activities bring a positive change in our youths and it is also helpful in eliminating anti social activities from society.” He added, “Lack of sport facilities has pushed most of youth of Surab towards negative activities which are strongly affecting our society.”
Mr. Zahoor Ahmed a young sportsman of Surab said that “there is no government policy for the development of sport activities in Surab. Youths of Surab are facing a lot of issues in sports including Lack of play grounds and organizational capacity, lack of equipment and coaching centers, scarcity of funds and duplication of associations in Surab.”
“Previous government of Balochistan provided a lot of funds for Balochistan sports festival but no funds were allocated for play grounds at district and tehsil level in Surab,” lamented Mr. Ahmed.
Youth of Surab has appealed to government of Balochistan to take effective measures to promote sport activities in schools, colleges and sport clubs at Surab by providing free of cost sport opportunities. They also urge government of Balochistan to help sport associations at district level and create opportunities for sport volunteers and mostly focus on engagement of youth in sports.
