Quetta: Annual Report of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) 2015 on State of Higher Education in Balochistan has exposed the incompetence and failure of Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Balochistan.
Report launched by the leading human rights body states that HEC formed a special task force for Balochistan over a year ago. This taskforce was supposed to promote higher education in Balochistan.
Report reveals that surprisingly the taskforce did not pay a single visit to Balochistan, let alone taking any action to solving Higher Education Problems in Balochistan.
Findings of the HRCP report further revealed that out of total 100 PhD faculty members of Balochistan universities 70 moved out of the province in 2015 due financial and security reasons.
“The federal and provincial governments as well as the HEC failed to give salaries to the faculty,” says the report. It further adds, “What to talk of setting up a provincial HEC.”
HEC has been blamed for cheating out Balochistan form its due share in HEC scholarships.
