Quetta: Young Doctors Association (YDA) has announced Balochistan-wide boycott of OPDs in hospitals in aftermath of baton charge and firing on their protest demonstration in Quetta, on Thursday.
This announcement was made by Dr. Hafeez Mandokhail, President of YDA during an emergency Press Conference in Sandeman Provincial Hospital on Thursday night.
Earlier, YDA staged a protest demonstration at GPO Chowk against missing facilities in hospitals of Quetta and non-payment of their salaries.
Police baton charged the protestors and according to sources also fired live rounds on the protestors.
Dr. Mandokhail demanded judicial inquiry into the incidents of what he termed police brutality and suspension of all the concerned government officers.
President of YDA rejected the inquiry committee announced by Balochistan government to look into the matter.
He claimed that more than 10 doctors have been wounded due to police assault and Dr. Asad is in critical condition as he was shot by a bullet allegedly fired by Police.
According to government sources, Dr. Asad has been airlifted to Karachi in a special plane for emergency treatment.
YDA has announced to intensify its protest if the demands of judicial inquiry and suspension of government officers involved are not met.
