Cargo Shipments to Start from Gwadar Port on 21st May

Gwadar: All arrangements have been made to start Cargo shipment from Gwadar on 21st May.
This was announced during the visit of National Assembly Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping to Gwadar port, on Wednesday.
23 member delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping visited Gwadar under the leadership of committee Chairman Syed Ghulam Mustapha Shah. Committee included Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Kamran Michael and Secretary Ports and Shipping Khalid Pervez.

Delegation visited Gwadar Port, Civic center, free trade zone and proposed site of expressway.
Committee was briefed by Chairman of Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Dostain Jamaldini and Chairman of China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC) Zang Bahizong.
Committee was briefed that work on expressway will start from June which will connect Gwadar port to Coastal highway at a cost of Rs. 14 billion and will be 19 Km in Length.
It was also told to the delegation that a 300 Megawatt power plant will be established to fulfill the growing electricity needs of the Gwadar. Gwadar master plan is formed for the needs of the next 50 years, said in the briefing.
COPHC officials said that efforts are being made to uplift social sector in the Gwadar by improving education and health facilities in the area
Syed Ghulam Mustapha Shah, chairman of the committee, said that “Gwadar will be center of trade in next few years to come and over 60 countries would benefit from it.”
He further added that success of port project depends on improving the living standard of people of Gwadar.
