Cheating Culture in Exams Need to be Discouraged

Recently, Intermediate exams concluded in Balochistan province and despite the loud claims of elimination of Copy Culture, it continued the way it has been over the years. Thus the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education’s anti cheating drives failed to do any good.
Balochistan Board amending its policy directed conduct of class 8 exam. Previously it was held by School administration. This is a step in right direction as it will stop illicit issuance of Middle pass certificates to candidates who do so with the aim to appear in Matriculation without attending schools. There was a hue and cry by private schools against this decision because they didn’t taught Balochistan text board books which was resolved when board extended date of commencement of examinations.
Middle exams have kicked off in province now. But to my extreme astonishment cheating has also started in this exam. This is unbearable and will deal a severe blow to the students and their future. This practice will instill ways of using ill means in the minds of students and will encourage them to abandon studies in future classes. It is obvious cheating by far easiest way to pass any exam and if it is possible easily then why they should bother to toil hard for the exam. They will resort to cheating and will ruin their future by doing this.
Another alarming thing witnessed during exams is that parents and teachers are themselves involved in providing cheating materials to help out their children in exams. This is ridiculous and should be stopped. Parents and Teacher are the ones supposed to be punishing students for any such practices but here they themselves are kind of grooming them for use of ill means.
Students having such degree will not be able to compete in future. In many cases matric pass students are unable to read and write properly. This all happens when cheating is the prime mean of passing exam and not the hard work. Such graduates are not going to contribute in the progress of nation but become burden.
Cheating at any level cannot be allowed but at this level specially can set a foundation of irreparable loss to the future of young minds of the country. This necessitates strict vigilance and prohibition of cheating during exams. It’s not a herculean task if all stake-holders carry out their duties with sincerity. There are exams such as CSS and PMS/CSS where cheating is impossible thus it requires candidates to take exam with proper preparation. So it’s the environment which forces candidates to opt for ill means.
Board should issue strict order to the superintendents and invigilators and take disciplinary action against those found violating laws.  This has been proven in M.A exams held under University of Balochistan where cheating has kept decreasing with each passing year due to strict measures taken by University. This has compelled student to study properly for exams. Parents are also required to cooperate with administration and should not indulge in any practice injurious to their child’s future.
