Quetta: Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU) has sent its response on an article published about poor management about first international social sciences conference held in the university.
SBKWU response reads that university administration had approached 2 or 3 persons from Balochistan for the keynote speakers, but they excused and refused to come to the conference.
SBKWU administration personally visited UOB, BUITEMS and ALHAMD Universities for the invitation and their participation in the conference as presenters. We went to each and every social sciences department and talked to their heads and gave them invitation and requested them to ask their faculty and students to participate in the conference. But none of them bothered to attend the conference.
Call for letter and invitation for participation in the conference was send to all the universities of Pakistan offering social sciences departments. Universities from Punjab and few universities from Sindh showed their interest and came to attend the conference.
We can only try and encourage the people to come and attend the conference but we cannot force them. If someone is least interested to represent or voice up for their own homeland how can one compel or force them to do so. We on our behalf tried our best to indulge and incorporate the locals from Balochistan to raise and highlight their social issues but I believe they were least interested or do not want to do so. That is why we did not see much representation or presenters from Balochistan.
