Heat stroke is also known as sun stroke or thermic fever. It happens when the body’s mechanisms for controlling temperature fail. While many people fell sick and faint during heat waves in Karachi. Last year about 1,360 people were affected by the heat stroke. Due to extreme heat “excessive sweating can result in dehydration, and this will lead to heat exhaustion.”
It is generally advised to remain in-door as much as possible especially at noon time (11:00 am to 03:00 pm) and don’t unnecessarily expose oneself to heat or sun. Stay in cool and dry place. Wear loose and light color clothes. Maintain as well as increase fluid intake to avoid dehydration. This is one of the major causes of complication in hot weather.
If necessary going out please wear cap or hat to avoid direct exposure. Heat stroke occurs if an individual has been exposing to hot weather for a long period. The condition can be due to labor work, physical activities or exposing or sitting in hot condition. So please stay at home.
This year government is providing facilities in hospitals so that the increasing danger of death of many people can be decreased. I hope people should follow these instructions to prevent heat stroke.
