The news of Abdul Sattar Edhi’s death was a black day in entire Pakistan. Edhi was the real manifestation of love for those who were socially helpless, poor, impoverished and vulnerable. Edhi was always ready to pick up the children and orphans and feed them. He never thought about himself and slept in windowless room with just a bed.
The first clinic of Edhi foundation was opened in 1951 for the protection of helpless people in the country. Now Edhi foundation has 5,700 people in 17 shelters across the country and those include abandoned children, the elderly, battered women, the disabled and drug addicts who are passing their lives in Edhi foundation.

Most importantly this foundation provided 1,500 ambulances which operate in entire Pakistan. In his last statement Edhi exclaimed that whatever he could, he has done for his nation and he was satisfied with his life.
The great human being, Abdul Sattar Edhi left us; still humanity is alive after his death. Edhi’s eyes were donated to blind people, so they could see again. The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplant claimed that Edhi’s eyes were successfully transplanted into two blind people and now they are able to see the world again. The death of Edhi has given a lesson to whole the nation to have humanity and help poor and needy person. As Edhi sacrificed his whole life to serve the poor and orphans and never thought about himself.
It has been almost six decades that Edhi has been a man, for helpless and poor. It was the responsibility of our government but they have totally failed.
Once Edhi was asked by certain people that why he had allowed Hindus and Christian in his ambulances. He replied to them that “my ambulances are more Muslim than you”.
We pay tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi and he will be alive in the hearts of thousands of people in Pakistan because he has done a huge thing for poor people and we cannot find such great personality again.
It is said that Legend’s are born after their deaths. So it is our responsibility to pay tribute to Edhi and continue his mission by providing facilities to needy and poor people and also orphans.
