Quetta: Government of Balochistan has decided to launch Balochistan Excellence Awards on 14th August for the people of province who have achieved successes in different walks of life.
This announcement was made by Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, Spokesman Government of Balochistan, in a press conference in Quetta Press Club, on Friday.
Mr. Kakar said Awards will be distributed in categories of Education, Health, Arts and Culture. This year two lifetime achievement awards, 5-10 recognition awards and 20-22 other awards will be distributed among the recipients.
A committee under leadership of Speaker Balochistan Assembly will finalize names for nomination of people in different categories. Final decision will be made by the core committee headed by Chief Minister of Balochistan.
“At the moment only souvenirs will be awarded to people who have made name for province and country but in future prize money can also be given,” added Mr. Kakar.
Spokesman of provincial government said “purpose of giving this award is to bring the positive role models to the fore which can be used by youth to follow.” “In absence of positive role models youth tends to follow criminals and other corrupt people and that proves to be destructive for the society,” he continued.
Balochistan Excellence awards would be continued on regular basis from this year onwards.
