Natural Gas Distribution Projects Inaugurated in Gwadar

Gwadar: Natural Gas Distribution Projects were inaugurated by Jam Kamal Khan, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural resources, on Friday.
Inauguration ceremony was held in a local hotel of Gwadar which was attended by government officials, local political leaders and media persons.
Addressing the ceremony, Jam Kamal said 400 MMCF Gas would be supplied to Gwadar under this project at a cost of $5.2 million. He added, “A gas terminal would be established and Gas would be supplied to Gwadar from Sindh.”

He informed the participants that Pak-Iran gas pipeline would be laid down very soon and that would further solve problems.

Speaking about development in Gwadar, Minister of State said, “Gwadar is rapidly developing city and for that matter it needs the facility of gas.” He reiterated that development in Gwadar is not possible without provision of clean drinking water, Gas and electricity.
Lamenting the lack of interest of provincial government in development programs, Mr. Kamal said “last year Prime Minister announced Rs. 15 billion for development of Balochistan and all of that was lapsed because provincial government did not propose projects in given time frame.”
He urged Media and political leaders to put pressure on provincial government to identify schemes which can be proposed to Federal government for funds allocation.

Babu Gulab, Chairman of District Council of Gwadar, said that other tehsils of Gwadar Jewani, Pasni and Ormara should also be provided Gas facility. He demanded that Students of those areas should also be provided technical training so that they can get the required skills in backdrop of China-Pak economic Corridor (CPEC) Projects.
Dostain Jamaldini, Chairman Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) told the participants that Gwadar is very important and there would have been no CPEC if there was no Gwadar. “60 countries of the world are interested in Gwadar port and if Gas infrastructure is provided then it will attract investors,” he added.
