Sariab Road: Most Neglected Area of Quetta

Sariab Road, the most populated area of Quetta, is also the most neglected area since partition.
Largely populated by Baloch community, Sariab Road has always been neglected by the successive governments.
Present government after assuming power in 2013 has also ignored this area just like the past governments.
Sariab Road falls under PB-6 constituency of Balochistan Assembly and the public representatives of the area is blamed by residents to have ignored Sariab completely.
Mr. Mehboob Baloch, a resident of Sariab Road told Balochistan Voices that due to lack of basic infrastructure, Sariab road mirrors as the scene of a rural settlement.
Mr. Naseem Baloch, another resident of Sariab Road said that “Garbage and dust which is not picked up by Metropolitan Corporation makes an unpleasant smell which impact throat and respiratory system of people.
Mr. Baloch lamented that Road Lights in Sariab Road are not functional for over 10 years and no one bothers to sort them out.
Sariab road was constructed last time when Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was Chief Minister of Balochistan in 1990, after that time no development has been observed in this deprived area, claimed Mr. Baloch.
Rs. 800 Million Sariab Package was announced during the tenure of Dr. Malik Baloch but local residents allege that the funds of that package were embezzled by local leadership of National Party (NP).
Residents of the area demand from NAB and Government of Balochistan to take action against misuse of funds allocated for Sariab package.
