Quetta: The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), sponsored by Intel since 1997, is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. Intel’s sponsorship of the ISEF is part of the Intel(r) Education Initiative, which is focused on collaborating with educators and governments around the world to improve the quality of science and mathematics education.
Provincial level of the said completion in Balochistan was held in PAKTURK International Schools and Colleges main campus, Quetta. Despite a deep concern over the law and order situation in the region which resulted the competition remain in a narrow circle, the students from different schools participated and showcased their talents on science and mathematics.
Provincial Secretary Information Mr. Abdul Fettah Banghar was present in the certificate ceremony as the chief guest of the occasion.
A large number of Professors and lecturers from the University of Balochistan and Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University took part in the evaluation work of the projects as the panel of judges.
In the individual category; project of Maheen Bashir and Iqra Salam from PakTurk International Schools and College girls campus grabbed Best of Category Awards in computer science and bio-chemistry respectively.
In the group category, the award winners selected were Wajahat Ullah and Biberg from PakTurk International Schools and Colleges Boys Campus in Computer Science while Yawar Mehdi and Zuilfiqar Ali in Bio-chemistry from Garrison College Quetta Cantt grabbed the Best of Category Awards.
Projects of Maheen Bashir and Iqra Salam from PakTurk International Schools And Colleges and Yawar Mehdi and Zuilfiqar Ali from Garrison College Quetta Cantt were found Grand winners. They will participate in the National Competition in Islamabad for a final selection to represent Pakistan in the International Science and Education Fair (ISEF) in America the next year.
