Shahlyla Baloch: Pakistani Women’s Football Team Striker Dies in Traffic Accident

Quetta: Shahlyla Ahmadzai Baloch, Striker of Pakistan women’s football team, died in a car crash in Do Darya Area of Karachi, on Wednesday Midnight.
Shahlyla Baloch was the daughter of Senator Rubina Irfan and former provincial Minister of Balochistan Agha Irfan Karim.
Raheela Zarmain, elder sister of Shahlyla told Dawn accident occurred in Defence phase 8 of Karachi when the car in which Shahlyla was travelling struck against a pole. She was sitting on the passenger seat when the car lost control and hit the footpath and then barriers near the Emaar building on Do Darya.

Shahlyla Baloch was born in the year 1996. She received the award of FIFA’s youngest player when she was just 7 years old. She was also awarded the best player of Pakistan thrice in 2009, 2011 and 2013.
“Shahlyla was the best female football player Pakistan has ever produced,” said Tariq Lutfi, her coach, in his condolence message.
Shahlyla had chosen Football as her career path and was completely dedicated to the sports. “Football is the only thing I want to do,” she had told Dawn in an interview in 2014.

Body of Shahlyla will be transported to her native town of Kalat for burial.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, condoled the death of Shahlya Baloch with her parents and termed it a great loss for everyone.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), expressed grief and sorrow over the sad death of Shahlyla Baloch.
