The devolution of power, as said by the than president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharaf, was the only solution to come close to the masses and ask them about their unending issues relating to health, sanitation and development. What he had to say was to stop bureaucratic corruption. But, General Pervez Musharaf, in his one the drastic steps, was fully contend to have served the masses with his devolution of power.
The local body system, in fact, have only served the people who have already been in the bad books of masses. Furthermore, the lack of paucity of funds to the elected representatives is the root cause of the failure of local body governments. Take for example the Hub Adalat Road, the road leading to the city court, which is its worst condition.
Ironically, it is not a thoroughfare where ordinary masses travel; the respectable judges also use the same thoroughfare to reach their destination. The same Road leads to Civil Hospital Hub which is great cause of trouble for the patients as well. The local government which is the guardian of city’s development seems dormant.
This is an utter failure of government to maintain flow of funds, for such development work, to the local governments to keep functioning.
It is requested the government of Balochistan to heed upon this issue and allocate funds to local Governments to fulfill their duties properly.
