Islamabad: Human rights activists filed a petition on Thursday in Islamabad High Court against alleged torture of the 10-year-old child maid Tayyaba, who was allegedly abused by an Additional District and Sessions Judge and his family.
The Additional District and Sessions judge was probed on Friday over alleged torture of a 10-year-old child maid, who worked at his home in Islamabad. Last week, police recovered the injured girl from Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan’s house in Islamabad. The move came after allegations that the girl had been employed as a housemaid in violation of child labour laws and had been allegedly subjected to torture.
The judge and his wife had been torturing the child for last two years and in the latest spate of violence, the minor child maid was beaten up by ADSJ’s family. A police team recovered the child maid from the judge’s house in Sector I-8 after the issue was taken up by human rights activists in Islamabad. Police told The Media that the girl had injuries around her eye and bruise and burns on one of her hands.
However, Police sources said that in her initial statement, Tayyaba said she had accidentally fallen and injured herself. The police, however, took her to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for medical tests which have confirmed that the child maid has been tortured.
The controversy started after pictures posted on social media and Twitter showed a child with eyes swollen up and injuries on her face and hands went viral on December 28. The posts claimed that the girl had been beaten up by Khan for allegedly failing to repay a loan of Rs. 6,000. However, media reports have also revealed that the parents have decided not to lodge complaint against ASDJ and his family.
Father of the child told an Islamabad court that he had forgiven the judge and his wife, and had “no objections” to the court granting bail to the alleged husband and wife. He claimed that he had investigated the matter on his own and found the case to be a false one.
