Supreme Court Must Reconsider Decision about Census in Balochistan: Hasil Bizenjo

Quetta: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping and President of National Party, Hasil Bizenjo, has urged Supreme Court of Pakistan to reconsider its decision of holding census in Balochistan. He also announced to not accept the census in presence of Afghan refugees in Balochistan.
Addressing a Press Conference in Quetta Press Club on Sunday, while Flanked by Former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Malik Baloch, Hasil Bizenjo said that situation in Balochistan is not conducive for census. He announced to knock the door of Supreme Court for delaying census in Balochistan.
He said that not only there is influx of Afghan Refugees in Balochistan but people from many Baloch areas such as Makran, Naseerabad, Dera Bugti and Kohlu have migrated from their homes due to security issues. “Baloch will become minority in their own land if census is allowed to happen in present circumstances,” he said.
He demanded that census must be postponed in Balochistan till the time all Afghan refugees have been repatriated and Baloch Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have returned to their homes.

Mr. Biznejo also said that if government wants then Baloch IDPs can be resettled in their homes without any delay and that would also contribute in making the situation conducive for census.
Federal Minister further added “We have not decide to boycott census yet. Soon, we will call a grand Jirga of political and tribal elders to decide future course of action about census.”
Census in scheduled to take place in Pakistan after a gap of 19 years from 15th march this year. Census has already become controversial in Balochistan due to the mounting opposition from the Baloch political parties due to the fear that Baloch will be converted into minority due to Afghan refugees.
