Karachi: U.S. Consul General Grace W. Shelton delivered opening remarks earlier this evening on the occasion of the opening of the eighth Karachi Literature Festival (KLF).
Festival founders Ameena Saiyid and Asif Farrukhi also attended. The U.S. Consulate General Karachi once again co-sponsored the event.
“One of the many reasons the U.S. government is a continued supporter of KLF is because of the important role it plays in literacy and academic dialogue,” said Consul General Shelton.
“By facilitating contacts between talented artists and academics from our two countries and around the world, we lay the groundwork for future collaborations and mutual understanding,” added Ms. Shelton.
Every year since its inception, the U.S. government has supported the festival, and this is the second year Consulate is bringing experts from the U.S.
This year in addition to 2 US speakers’ participation, the Consulate is sponsoring three sessions throughout the weekend.
