The efforts of provincial government for educational development are praiseworthy especially in the medical field by announcing three more medical colleges that are located in Turbat, Khuzdar and Loralai respectively. However, the only medical college in the province for all districts is not enough to cater to the demand for medical education in the province.
The proposal of establishment of these new medical colleges was approved some four years before but rhetoric remained limited to in the pages of Newspapers, while not reaching to any official notice. Today the information that someone can have is that the medical colleges are yet pending to get established.
It was announced by the government that the classes would get started in March, but the March has approached without the fulfilment of the promises made by the government.
The students, having the merit difference of points, are deprived of seats due to lack of medical institutions. They are still waiting for a miracle to happen so that they get a chance to fulfil their dreams and benefit the country. The failure of government has become more evident, because the only functioning medical college “BMC” seems insufficient to accommodate more graduates.
In fact, fewer chances available for medical students sometimes often go in vain because of the narrow approach of the administration for inducting new students. The failure of educational system will cause further backwardness in health department, whereas education and health are fairly important for lifting up masses out of backwardness. In an under developing province such as Balochistan, students even commit suicide just for not having enough chances for excelling in the field of education. Now the question is where the students of Balochistan should go, if they are supposed to be frustrated without having fair chances in the field of education.
There is a dire need of colleges in Balochistan. It’s requested to the government that it’s now high time to make establishment of approved colleges possible forthwith; otherwise for one more year we get aside good doctors who might get a chance in these medical colleges to become an asset and saviour.
