M.Phil chemistry scholars of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU) wrote an open letter to the Governor of Balochistan couple of week back. We were waiting for response of Governor and SBKWU administration to take any action to solve the problem of the scholars. But not a single statement has been issued by Governor to solve the problem of scholars. Instead of university administration calling scholars and asking about their problem, university administration wrote an article to defend university strategy.
SBKWU M.Phil scholars raised number of issues in letter written to Governor of Balochistan but university administration did not even answer a single issue. The article in response was full of praise of university and V.C Rukhsana Jabeen. Although M.Phil scholars did not write a single thing against Vice Chancellor. Scholars just appealed to the Governor to solve their problem as university administration is not showing any interest.

Here I, on the behalf of chemistry department scholars portraying the remaining picture of the Chemistry scholar’s problems, and also requesting journalist community to come to the university and investigate the matter; as number of the students are fed up with the situation.
In 2013-15 Session, University enrolled 20 M.Phil Chemistry scholars, in 2014-16 session 20 and in 2015-17 session 40 and in 2016-18 session 30 more scholars took admission in M.Phil chemistry department. So. 110 students in total took admission in the concerned department. While University administration wrote in their article that “under the project Provision of Academic and Research Activities at SBKWU, HEC has approved applications of 22 scholars from Chemistry Department who will carry their academic and research activities Quaid-e-Azam University, NUST and PCSIR for 6 Months.”
Now the question is if university sent only 22 scholars from Chemistry Department to Quaid-e-Azam University, NUST and PCSIR what about the other 88 scholars how they will complete their research works in non-functional labs. And the selected students’ notification was issued on 29 January 2017, most of the chemistry scholars in the list belong to first session (2013-2015) and their research work should have completed in April 2016 along three months extension. So its mean university has issued the selected applicants list 9 months late although they submitted applications for this research grant project in April 2016 then why scholars pay 9 month penalty fee to university?
Now the question is if university sent only 22 scholars from Chemistry Department to Quaid-e-Azam University, NUST and PCSIR what about the other 88 scholars how they will complete their research works in non-functional labs
Now the question is why university did not deal with the matter on emergency basis. University did not facilitate the students although they were taking semester fee from HEC through Prime Minister Scheme. And now university is demanding 4,000/ per month penalty fee from students and giving argument that scholars themselves late the work, university administration cannot implement this argument on chemistry department scholars because as mentioned above chemistry department lab is non-functional then how scholars do their research work.
Many students complete their research work on self finance basis, number of scholars spent 80,000/ to 10,000 rupees to go personally and to send their samples to HEJ, PCSIR etc. Now when they spent a lot of their money to complete their research work and it’s time of submission, university is demanding 4,000/per month late submission penalty fee.
Here, HEC role is also questionable, why HEC is not taking any action as the M.Phil chemistry scholars number of times raised the issue in various local news papers that there are no chemicals and equipments in Chemistry department labs to do work. Why HEC did not ask from university about the fund which university has been receiving on the name of Chemistry department lab chemicals and equipment.

Now, here we are appealing to journalist community please come forward and investigate the matter as we cannot afford to pay such a big amount to university as we already paid a lot of money to different institutes for our research work although university was also receiving money from HEC for each and every scholar. And chemistry department M.Phil scholars number of times went to admin, HOD, DEAN of chemistry department, and V.C but no one is taking issue seriously even they are not accepting the written applications of the scholars for further process.
