Two main reasons for religious extremism are poverty and ignorance. In Pakistan it has to do less with poverty and lack of education but it has more to do with desire for meaning and order.
Pakistan is submerged in chaos and corruptions and Islamists promise clear cut solution to every problem and it is violent action. They throw in a strong sense of victimhood that they are not responsible for the sorry of state.
The narrative should get off that poverty and lack of education is the cause and our politicians have to stop blaming west for the problems and have to comfort with endemic corruptions that destroy Pakistan from within.
