Islamabad: A group of PhD holders protested against Higher Education Commission (HEC) outside HEC office for not providing them jobs.
Protestors said that they are more than 290 PhD holders who have completed PhDs on Indigenous scholarships of HEC and now struggling to get jobs.
“HEC is sending students in large number for PhD studies but it’s not making any arrangement for employment of PhD holders,” said a protestor.

“On one side HEC doesn’t allow us to go abroad due to the bound that we have signed with it and also does not create job opportunities for us in Pakistan,” lamented the protestors.
They said that vacancies advertised in different universities of Pakistan are still lingering and no one is serious in completing the process.
“HEC vision 2025 is to produce more PhDs then required in Pakistan and yet there is no plan for placement of existing PhD holders.
Protestors urged Government of Pakistan and Supreme Court of Pakistan to take notice of this matter and ensure that either PhD holders get jobs in Pakistan or they are allowed to go abroad.
