Quetta: Shehbaz, Cameraman of Dunya News was beaten up in political gathering of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) which was addressed by party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on Tuesday evening.
According to the cameraman Shehbaz, PPP workers beat him up when he was covering the lack of proper arrangements in the political gathering. He was attacked with an object and that resulted in minor injuries on his nose.
As per the accounts of journalists covering the event no one from the leadership of the PPP came to the rescue of Shehzab when he was being thrashed by PPP workers. When the journalists protested against attack on Shehbaz then the PPP workers misbehaved with the journalists.
Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) has strongly condemned the attack on cameraman of Dunya News. In its press statement BUJ had warned that if non-democratic and violent attacks on journalists continued the BUJ will boycott coverage of all events of PPP in Balochistan.
At the end of the day, due to the rash behavior of PPP workers, the attack on the cameraman was the biggest news coming from the political gathering and not the speech of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
