Quetta: Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, reconstituted Council of Common Interests (CCI), by decreasing the members from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and increasing members of Punjab, on Thursday.
Previously, CCI had two members each from all four provinces under PM Nawaz Sharif.
As per Clause 4 of Article 154 of constitution of Pakistan CCI will make its decisions based on majority votes.
Now the balance of Power has shifted in favor of Punjab due to the reconstitution by PM.
CCI has to discus and approve important issues like sixth national census results, the first-ever national water policy and allocation of new gas finds to domestic consumers in its coming meeting.
The decision of reconstitution of CCI was criticized on social media.
PML-N moving into dangerous waters by reconstituting the CCI ending presence of 1 member each of KP & Balochistan. Punjab now has 4 members.
