Quetta: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and Chief Minister (CM) Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri visited under-construction Sibi-Harnai railway track, on Thursday.
Sibi-Harnai railway track is 134 Km long and total cost of this project is 2.4 Billion. So, far 70% work has been completed on this track and it will be made operational in March 2018, the guests were briefed in Sibi.
The Sibi-Harnai section was damaged in 2006 due to floods and terrorist attacks and since then it has remained non-operational.
Minister railways and CM Balochistan also visited different parts of Sibi railway station.
Addressing a press conference in CM House on Wednesday, Federal Minister said that Sibi-Harnai railway track will benefit people and it can be used to transfer coal easily from Harnai to other parts of the country.
“We have bought 180 Acre land to construct Railway installations at Gwadar and need more land area. Construction work will start next month,” said Mr. Rafique. He added that Gwadar will be linked to railway network of Pakistan via Quetta as a part of CPEC.
Federal Minister Railway further said that 680 KM long Quetta to Zahidan railway track is not in a good condition and needs repair work. The Russian government has expressed interest in improving the Quetta to Zahidan railway track,” He revealed.
