Quddus Bizenjo Elected Speaker Balochistan Assembly

Quetta: Abdul Quddus Bizenjo was elected the new speaker of Balochistan Assembly, on Thursday.
Abdul Quddus Bizenjo was the candidate of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) led coalition, which also included PTI, ANP, BNP-Awami, JWP, and HDP. Haji Nawaz Kakar was the candidate of JUI-F and BNP-Mengal-led opposition.
Quddus Bizenjo was elected Speaker by getting 39 votes whereas Haji Nawaz Kakar bagged 20 votes.
Rahila Durrani administered the oath to the new Speaker Quddus Bizenjo. New speaker thanked all those who voted for him and vowed to neutrally run the affairs of Assembly.
Quddus Bizenjo belongs to BAP and He was instrumental in toppling the PML-N government in Balochistan in January. Subsequently, He served as Chief Minister of Balochistan from January to May this year. He had also served as deputy Speaker of Balochistan Assembly from June 2013 to May 2015.
For the slot of deputy speaker, Sardar Babar Musakhel of BAP-led coalition contested against Ahmed Nawaz Baloch, who was the joint candidate of BNP-Mengal and JUI-F.
Sardar Babar Musakhel of PTI was elected deputy speaker by getting 37 votes, Ahmed Nawaz got 21 votes and one vote was rejected.
Sardar Babar Musakhel is elected to Balochistan Assembly for the first time. He defeated JUI-F in their stronghold of Musakhel and Sherani.
Jam Kamal submitted his nomination papers for the Elections of Chief Minister Balochistan, which were scheduled for Friday. No other candidate submitted papers till the allocated time of 5 PM.
Sanaullah Baloch of BNP-Mengal objected to the short time allowed to submit nomination papers for Chief Minister Elections.
Later, speaker Quddus Bizenjo ruled that nomination papers for CM Election can be submitted till 5 PM on Friday. Elections for CM will now take place on Saturday.
All the roads leading to Balochistan Assembly and its surrounding areas were closed for common traffic. This resulted in traffic jams and the long queue of vehicles on the nearby roads. People were stuck in traffic for more than two hours.
