Quetta: Administration of the University of Balochistan (UOB) has made wearing of uniform mandatory for students of Bachelors and Masters from March 2020.
According to a circular issued by the registrar of the university, after 1st March 2020, no student will be allowed to enter the university without uniform. The circular has also mentioned only one supplier “Mother Care,” from which the students can purchase the uniforms.
This decision has been announced in the wake of the sexual harassment scandal at the University of Balochistan, which has shaken the society in the province.
This decision of imposition of uniform on students was widely condemned on social media as an oppressive decision to police the students and suppress their creativity.
This decision also involves a clear case of financial irregularity, where only one uniform supplier has been nominated for purchasing uniform without any due competitive process.
