The outbreak of Cholera, Diarrhea, and Malaria in the district of Dera Bugti was formally declared by the Government of Balochistan. Dera Bugti has always been a malaria-endemic region of Balochistan. BRSP with the support of Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) is implementing a Malaria Control Programme (MCP) in 15 Union Councils of Dera Bugti.
Since the declaration of the outbreak, BRSP in partnership with IHHN has been in regular coordination with the Department of Health, the Government of Balochistan, and the district administration to provide maximum relief to the affectees in Dera Bugti.
BRSP has been implementing the Malaria Control Programme through Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) with the financial support of the Global Fund (TGF), in 17 districts of Balochistan including Dera Bugti. Both BRSP and IHHN responded to the outbreak of Malaria by providing Malaria control and preventive services through 65 health facilities in 15 union councils of Dera Bugti.
Both IHHN and BRSP are committed to providing prompt and reliable Malaria diagnosis followed by immediate treatment services. During this emergency, Malaria control interventions are being expanded through mass screening of malaria suspects in affected areas through a fully equipped Malaria van. During this emergency response, Secretary Health, Government of Balochistan, Mr. Saleh Nasar along with Director General Health Services Balochistan Dr. Noor Muhamamd Qazi, and Director Vector-Borne Diseases/MCP Dr. Khalid-ur-Rehman visited different health facilities and were briefed on Malaria Control Programme by representatives of BRSP and IHHN. It was also shared with the honorable Secretary Health, that BRSP with the support of IHHN distributed 130, 000 Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs) among the at-risk population of the district in 2019, Secretary Health highly appreciated the efforts of BRSP and IHHN for their valuable contribution in the district. The director-general of health services Mr. Noor Muhamamd Qazi also acknowledge the support of BRSP and IHHN and hoped that this support will be continued in the future as well. Both Secretary Health and DG health assured their possible support to BRSP and IHHN not just in Dera Bugti but also in the rest of the districts of Balochistan.
